That opportunity came over 20 years ago, when June launched These Eyes of Mines, her DC-based boutique retailing an extensive collection of fashionable frames, prescription eyewear and contact lenses.  While diligently honing her skills as an optician, she quickly earned the reputation as talented and sought after as an eyewear stylist with a penchant for finding and selling one-of-a kind, chic and even daring frames.  It is what sets her apart in the industry.

Known for her eclectic and stylish frames, she has garnered the attention of eyewear fashionistas, politicians and celebrities alike, all eager to be anointed by the reigning queen of specs.  Unquestionably, June’s gift of pairing her diverse clientele with extraordinary frames has even the most reluctant client submitting as June patiently demonstrates why a frame perfectly matches the face and personality.  This je ne sais quoi has given June the edge that resonates across generational, cultural and stylistic boundaries.  It is ironic, yet reassuring, that June’s passion for providing well-fitting and stylish frames contrasts heavily with those in the industry that are more concerned with inventory turnover.

​DC-based optician, June Mines, has been providing eyewear in the Nation’s Capital for over 20 years.  June got her start while working in the optical department at the famed Woodward & Lothrop.  Her relocation to Atlanta later landed another opportunity where she was offered a position giving her access to top-notched training at a family-owned optical lab, just as eyewear began to emerge as a major fashion accessory.  With her newly acquired training and years of experience under her belt, she returned to DC trail blazing into some of the most recognized optical businesses.  Her certification came in the mid 90's while apprenticing under a well-known DC optometrist, when her desire deepened to own and operate an optical business, but with a different flare.
